Writing and Literature at California College of the Arts (aka “The Creative Writer”)
Posted by adminFeb 21
Situated in the Bay Area, CCA’s Writing and Literature Program offers undergraduate students the opportunity to cultivate their potential in an inspiring and intensive studio environment while earning their bachelor of arts. Integrated into one of the country’s premier art schools, students are able to approach writing as a living art alongside artists and designers who are passionately engaged in making. Because of the program’s intimate size, students collaborate closely with a diverse faculty of actively publishing writers. In addition to courses focused on the craft of writing and the analysis of literature, students have access to courses in fine arts, design, visual and critical studies, community arts, and diversity studies, providing an exceptional range of perspectives and approaches that invigorate the writing process. The program’s comprehensive curriculum and engaged faculty challenge students to think critically and develop their individual voices. Writing workshops provide training not only in traditional prose and poetry but also in drama, the graphic novel, screenwriting, improvisation, and more. Students leave the program with a polished manuscript in the genre of their choice as well as a significant piece of literary criticism.

@tthomassie: Not sure what you’re referring to here. The video captures undergraduates because it’s an undergraduate program. CCA also offers the MFA Program in Writing, which is a graduate program. By and large, there are 21 undergraduate and 7 graduate programs that comprise California College of the Arts. I hope this helps!
I was looking at the #s of undergraduate majors and Masters majors and it seems like there were very few undergraduates, mostly Masters. Is this your experience? Is it more of an mfa program?
@bookaddict209 forgot to add that i want to be a writer too. and i think honestly that this school is ideal if u want something other than learning in a regular school. it all depends on what ur thing is but for this school i reccomend taking as many art classes u can and keep working on ur writing skills, if u haven’t seen the requirements for this school yet. it require quite a few things.
@bookaddict209 in my opinion it would be because it is something that isn’t just about writing its bringing different aspects that can be used for writing too. that’s my opinion.
I want to be a writer (mostly fiction) when I go for a career.
Would this college be good for that?
