When Writing A Screenplay, Do You Write The Title On The Cardstock Cover Or Leave It Blank?
Posted by adminDec 27
I heard you are supposed to write the Screenplay title, name, contract info etc., NOT on the cardstock cover, but on the title page after the cardstock cover. Is this correct? Are you supposed to just leave the cover blank for a spec screenplay?
Thanks!

You need to put the title, your name and still is OK to put some info like the genre, time, ect to the cover to pull the eyes of the producers. Or this is what producers explained to us in university. Than you have to write a catch-phrase or a quote explaining your story in the second page. Then a synopsis and then finally start with your script. You also have to use a very specific format with your script or no one will take you seriously. Some programs can help you with that. The format of Final Draft is accepted everywhere.
Use plain cover-stock or card-stock. Print only the script title and author name on the front. Any color is OK, but white, gray or tan are preferred and more professional looking. Do not bind your script in a high-school plastic binder or one with metal bars inside. Nothing else is acceptable but front and back card-stock covers.
