Literary Agencies

A literary agency is an agency which has literary agents working for them. A literary agent is an agent who represents writers and their written works to publishers and film producers and assists in the sale and deal negotiation of the same.  Literary agencies represent novelists, screenwriters and major non-fiction writers. They are paid a fixed 10 to 20% of the proceeds of sales they negotiate on behalf of their clients.

Literary agencies can vary in size. Some are of the size of a single agent who will represent more than 12 authors at any time, and even a good firm with sub agents, senior partners and more.

Most agencies, especially the smaller ones, will specialize to some degree, representing authors who (for example) write science fiction, or mainstream thrillers and mysteries, children’s books, or highly topical nonfiction.

Many authors turn into literary agents and while some work done independently, some prefer to attach themselves to a literary agency because a lot of lucrative publishing houses do not accept submissions that do not come through agents. Also literary agencies provide a good career advice and guidance. If you are a publishable author, it is not necessary that you will know about the intricacies and legalities of modern publishing contracts and practices. Many authors prefer to have an agent handle such matters and these agents if they belong to a good literary agency, that’s even better. The literary agency also takes care of royalty statements and payments so this leaves the author with more time to concentrate on writing than getting into other stuff and wasting valuable time.

When you want to get your work published, you must always go to a reputed and strong literary agency as they will have the best agents to help you out. Dishonest agents will take the authors for a ride and charge huge amount of fees from the writers – they will promote their own paid services. These agents do not sell any writing material to the publishers. All they can think of is how to extract more and more money from writers.

Taken Is Amazing

Taken is a mystery thriller starring Liam Neeson.  It had a pretty good run at the box office and is now on DVD and Blu-ray.  Neeson plays an ex-spy that must use his skills to find his kidnapped daughter who has been taken by modern day slave traders.  It is a high adrenaline thriller with plenty of action and thrills.  Liam Neeson actually looks like an action hero, using his skills as a spy and secret agent to find the kidnappers and save his daughter.  On paper, it sounds a little weird casting Neeson as an action hero, but it works surprisingly well and Neeson pulls it off.  The movie is highly energetic and tense and is surprisingly good.  The Blu-ray includes the theatrical release as well as an extended directors cut with additional scenes.  There are the expected deleted scenes and extended directors commentary as well as commentary with the stunt coordinator and screenwriter.  This blu-ray comes with a digital copy that you are able to download and watch in a different form. For the following reasons this movie is rated PG-13: violence, drug use, adult situations and profanity. Neeson does a great job with this part. He plays a father who is enraged and searches for his abducted daughter. There is no reason not to give this movie a try, Any fan of thrillers and action movies will like the action packed movie.  The DVD is also available in an extended version with all the same features except for the additional digital download which is only available with the extended Blu-ray version of the movie.  This movie is a great addition to your DVD or movie collection.  It is a parents nightmare come true and this movie shows how one man deals with the situation, on his own terms.

Now blue ray are becoming more popular than ever. If you are searching for a blue ray dvd then look at CDWow to find one.

The Grudge 3 is the latest installment of the Grudge series which was released May 12, 2009 as a direct to DVD movie. Director of the Original Grudge and its sequel The Grudge 2, Takashi Shimizu, decided he would rather try his hand at producing on this film rather than directing, opening the door for Toby Wilkins to sign on as the director. Shimizu, who is also the writer of the original Japanese film Ju-On that was the basis for the Grudge, was also credited with writing for the film, along with screenwriter Brad Keene who wrote “Gravedancers” and “From Within”. Set in Chicago only a short while after the action takes place in Grudge 2, the story continues. Young Allison brought the curse with her from Tokyo. Running away did not help  end the torture. Now we have Jake Kimball, lone survivor from Grudge 2, Locked up in a mental institution. Dr Ann Sullivan, acted by Shawnee Smith, is taking care of him.Jake tries to confide in Dr. Sullivan about his family, but his story is too fantastic and horrible for her to accept as truth. She changes her mind after Kayako, from the other two Grudge films, invisibly goes after him.Naoko, Kayako’s sister, is still living in Japan. While reading a newspaper she finds out about all the stuff happening in the U.S. Naoko knows what to do about the deadly curse. She can, after all this time, make it stop. She is determined to go to America and do her best to end the reign of terror. From Japan all the way to that apartment in Chicago, Naoko makes her way to face the curse. In the apartment originally in Grudge 2, she comes into contact with the landlord and his kids. While becoming familiar with the family she becomes very close to the older girl Lisa, and comes to see that little Rose is in contact with the spirit world. All this time the curse is going full throttle at the family. She decides the way to end this will be an exorcism during which the young girl Rose will drink Kayako’s blood. The landlord Max who is crazed by this time murders Naoko in the middle of the exorcism. Rose drinking the blood and the exorcism had gotten rid of the curse, but Max killing Naoko has created a brand new one to take its place. If you liked The Grudge movies, you have got to see this. So many questions from the earlier flicks are answered. The ending makes you think there are possibly more to come.

The Grudge 3 DVD is an all out attack on the brain. After the scariness of the previous Grudge movies, The Grudge 3 DVD gives some closure and leaves room for the possibility of another!
